What Teams Has Jonathan Cooley Coached So Far?

Jonathan Cooley has been coaching college Football before working his way up in the NFL to become an assistant secondary coach for the Los Angeles Rams.

After graduating from Millikin University in 2011, Cooley began his coaching career as the defensive backs coach and assistant special teams coordinator. In 2012, he became the safeties coach at Bluffton University, where he also served as the team’s equipment manager.

Cooley worked as a secondary coach at his alma mater, John Carroll University, for two seasons prior to joining the Kentucky staff. He was instrumental in helping JCU’s defense finish in the top five nationally in Division III both seasons.

Cooley had worked as a defensive graduate assistant at Kentucky for two seasons before joining the Mocs as their defensive backs coach in 2015. (2015-16). The Wildcats finished tied for second place in the SEC East and received a bid to a postseason tournament.

For the 2017 season, he transferred to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he will play under head coach Tom Arth. In 2018, Cooley took over as secondary coach for the Kent State Golden Flashes.

During the 2019 season at the University of Akron, Jonathan Cooley served as a defensive backs coach for the Zips.

In 2020, Cooley joined the Los Angeles Rams as a defensive assistant and quality control coach and has been promoted to assistant secondary coach.
