When did Austin Meadows join the Rays?

Austin Meadows Joined the Tampa Bay Rays on On July 31, 2018.



Meadows was sent to Triple-A Durham after being dealt with the Tampa Bay Rays for Chris Archer, Tyler Glasnow, and a player to be named later, subsequently confirmed to be Shane Baz.

On September 19, Meadows was promoted to the Tampa Bay Rays. With the Rays, he hit.250/.308/.417 with a home run and four RBIs in ten games.



Meadows finished the season with a .287/.325/.461 batting line, six home runs, and 17 RBIs in 59 games.

Meadows was selected for his first All-Star game in 2019. He finished the 2019 season with offensive numbers that were career highs.

In 138 games, he had the highest average (.291), most home runs (33), most runs (83), and the most runs batted in (89).

He was placed on injured reserve on July 16, 2020, after testing positive for COVID-19. As a result, Meadows was unable to participate in the start of the truncated 2020 season, which began on August 1, 2020.

He was able to return to the Rays on August 4 after a brief recuperation from the sickness. Meadows had a.205/.296/.371 slash line in 36 games throughout the season.

As of 2021, he possessed the lowest ground ball/fly ball ratio in the major leagues, with a ratio of 0.54; he also possessed the lowest ground ball percentage, with a figure of 28.7 percent.
