Where did the Red Sox get Christian Arroyo From?

Christain Arroyo was acquired by the Reds from the Clevelands. On August 13, 2020, the Boston Red Sox claimed Arroyo off waivers.

Chaim Bloom, the chief baseball officer, knew Arroyo from their time together in Tampa.

In 2017, the Rays acquired the Florida native as part of the Evan Longoria blockbuster with the Giants, but Arroyo struggled to bat in limited play.

He had a lifetime average of just.215 in 251 plate appearances over four seasons when he was acquired by the Red Sox. He was nothing more than a flyer, and there was no reason to think otherwise.

Arroyo has quietly emerged as one of the main supporting players on a team with surprise postseason ambitions less than a year later.

Arroyo hit the game-tying three-run bomb to leftover everything in the fifth inning of the Astros’ wild 12-8 victory

Arroyo was named to Boston’s Opening Day roster in 2021. Due to a left-hand injury, he was placed on the injured list on May 9 and reactivated on May 25.

He was placed on the injured list again on June 24 due to a right knee contusion but was activated on July 5, hitting a home run in the Angels’ game that night.
