Where Is Sam Hilliard?

A professional baseball outfielder with the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball, Samuel Beauman Hilliard was born in America on February 21, 1994.

From Mansfield, Texas, Hilliard graduated from Mansfield High School. He transferred to Crowder College after beginning his college baseball career at Navarro College.

Originally from Crowder, he was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 31st round of the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft. He chose to attend Wichita State University instead of signing with the team.

During his collegiate career, Hilliard played both outfield and pitcher. He signed with the Colorado Rockies in the 2015 MLB draft’s 15th round after just one year at Wichita State.

Hilliard began his career with the Grand Junction Rockies, then played for the Asheville Tourists in 2016, the Lancaster JetHawks in 2017, and the Hartford Yard Goats in 2018.

He competed in the Arizona Fall League after the 2018 season. After the 2018 season, he was added to the Rockies’ 40-man roster. Albuquerque Isotopes were the band he started 2019 with.

The Rockies called up Hilliard to the big leagues on August 27, 2019.

His first major league hit, a two-run home run off Josh Smith, came that evening in his debut against the Boston Red Sox.

Before being optioned down to the Rockies’ secondary site after the team acquired Kevin Pillar, Hilliard had a disconcerting strikeout rate of 36.8% during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. Hilliard hit.210/.272/.438 overall.
