Kyle David Whittingham, an American football coach, and former player was born on November 21, 1959. He has been the head football coach at the University of Utah since 2004, and he is the school’s all-time wins leader.
Whitingham played the linebacker position from 1978 to 1981 for the Cougars Byu. In 1981 he won the first team of First-Wac and the WAC defense player of honor. Whitingham was also called the Defense MVP of the holiday bowel in 1981.
He played in the first four holiday peels. In his first appearance, he played as a running back and the other three as supporters, while he had recorded 27 tackles. In 2009 he was connected to the Holiday Bowl Hall of Fame.

Whitingham’s first season was an onslaught up and down for Utah, as the team was not only registered to new coaching personnel, including Andy Ludwig, but also a new offense, from the field quarterback Brian Johnson. Utah first fought early when he went 3-4 in his first 7 games, but a strong finish from Utah gave his third invitation to the bowl.
On January 29, 2016, it was announced at the University of Utah, that Whittingham agreed to an expansion of the contract in the 2020 season. His contract was renewed again through 2027 for around $5 million a year
