Who is Mohamed Sanu Sr?

Mohamed Sanu Sr. is an American football wide receiver for the National Football League’s San Francisco 49ers. He was born on August 22, 1989. He attended Rutgers University and was taken in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Sanu was born in Sayreville, New Jersey, to a Muslim family and spent his childhood in his parents’ native Sierra Leone. Sanu relocated to the United States and settled in Dayton, New Jersey, where he eventually excelled as a triple option quarterback at South Brunswick High School before enrolling at Rutgers University in 2009.

Sanu led the Vikings to their first postseason berth in over 40 years in his final season at South Brunswick High School, scoring three rushing touchdowns of at least 80 yards versus Edison High School.

Unfortunately, his senior year of high school was cut short by the NJSIAA because of his age. He graduated six months early and went on to enroll at Rutgers University in January 2009.

Sanu was one of the state’s best jumpers in track and field. He finished second in the triple jump (14.08 m) and third in the long jump at the NJSIAA Sectional Championships in 2008. (6.43 meters).

At the 2008 Merli Invitational, he also ran the 55 meters and the 200 meters with personal-best times of 6.94 and 24.28 seconds, respectively. He enjoys sports and is a supporter of the West Ham United football team.
