Steven Okert is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Miami Marlins of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played in MLB for the San Francisco Giants.

After pitching 35 and one-third innings with a 1.53 earned run average, 19 saves, and 54 strikeouts, he was elevated to the Double-A level with the Richmond Flying Squirrels. After the 2015 campaign, the Giants decided to include him on their roster of 40 players.

On April 19, 2016, Okert was promoted to the major league roster of the San Francisco Giants. Later on that day, Okert made his debut in the major leagues while playing against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

He then collected his first two strikeouts in a major league game, while also pitching two innings in which neither team scored and forcing one batter to hit into a double play.

During Okert’s very first at-bat in the Major Leagues, he faced the Dodgers’ left-handed relief pitcher Adam Liberatore. He ended up striking out. Okert pitched a total of 14 innings in 16 games, notching 14 strikeouts and maintaining a 3.21 earned run average.
