Biography of The Richest President

Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin was born on 7 October 1952 in Leningrad now Saint Petersburg.  Putin studied law at Leningrad State University, graduating in 1975. He worked as a foreign intelligence officer for 16 years, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel. He is the youngest of three children. His birth was preceded by the death of his two brothers, one died in infancy while the other died of diphtheria in World War II.

Putin’s mother was a factory worker while his father was a conscript in the Navy, serving in the submarine fleet. At age 12, he began to practice sambo and Judo. He studied German at Saint Peterburg High School and speaks German fluently.



Putin’s Political Career

In 1990, he was appointed as an advisor on international affairs to the Mayor of Leningrad Anatoly Sobchak. In 1991, he became head of the Committee for External Relations of the Mayor’s Office, with responsibility for promoting international relations and foreign investments and registering business ventures.

In 1994, Putin was appointed as First Deputy  Chairman of the Government of Saint Petersburg. In 1997, President Boris Yeltsin appointed Putin as Deputy Chief of the Presidential Staff, a post he retained until 1998 May. On 9 August 1999, Putin was appointed one of the three First Deputy Prime Ministers, and later that year was appointed acting Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation.

Putin agreed to run for the presidency. Yeltsin who was the president at that time unexpectedly resigned and according to the constitution of Russia, Putin became acting president of the Russian Federation in 1999.

President Trump once said Vladimir Putin could be the richest man in the world. Last year, Hermitage Capital Management CEO Bill Browder told the Senate Judiciary Committee that he believes the Russian President is ‘the richest man in the world’ with a net worth of over $200 billion.
