Spencer Howard is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played in MLB for the Philadelphia Phillies.
In 2015, Howard returned to play summer baseball in Bellingham 2016. While working with Clem, he concentrated on increasing his strength with the goal of becoming a starting pitcher.
Howard was summoned into the Cal Poly starting rotation in 2017 after a member of the Cal Poly starting rotation was injured.
Fangraphs dubbed Howard the Big West Conference’s best draft-eligible pitcher, as well as the Big West Conference’s best starter, halfway through his redshirt sophomore season.
A total of 17 appearances, 12 of which were starts, yielded 8–1 records and a 2.05 ERA. According to both MLB.com and Baseball America, Howard was the 99th best prospect in his draft class.
A 45th-round pick by the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball (MLB) in the 2017 MLB Draft was made by Howard.
Cal Poly’s third-highest draft pick ever, and the year’s best. Howard agreed to a $1.15 million signing bonus when he agreed to join the organization in June.
