Anthony Gose is an American professional baseball pitcher and outfielder for the Cleveland Guardians of Major League Baseball (MLB). He changed positions, from the center fielder to pitcher, following the 2016 season.
The Houston Astros acquired Gose, J.A. Happ, and Jonathan Villar in exchange for Roy Oswalt and $12 million on July 29, 2010. Within hours of being dealt, he was sent to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for first baseman Brett Wallace.
Prior to the Roy Halladay trade, the Blue Jays had tried to acquire Gose from Philadelphia. Dunedin Blue Jays of the FSL took him. In 2011, MLB.com ranked Gose as the fifth-best prospect in the Blue Jays’ system.
While with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in Double-A Eastern League, he had a successful season in 2011. (EL). Gose scored the winning run for the Fisher Cats in the EL championship game.
For the season, he had 70 stolen bases and was caught just 15 times, breaking Darin Mastroianni’s record for stolen bases in a season. He also had a 15-home run season.
His Venezuelan Winter League batting average was just.182 in 18 games during the 2011–12 offseason. He was the 39th-best prospect in baseball prior to the 2012 season.
