Adreian Payne was an American professional basketball player who last played for Juventus Utena of the Lithuanian Basketball League. He played college basketball for Michigan State University.

Payne played in 34 games, averaging 2.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per contest as a freshman.

He was the team’s top blocker in his sophomore year (39) and finished eighth in the Big 10 Conference. Averaging 7.0 points and 4.2 rebounds per game in 37 games (36 starts), he was a solid contributor. He was recognized as Academic All-Big Ten.

This season, Payne led the Big Ten in free-throw percentage (.848) and blocked a total of 46 shots, making him Michigan State’s sixth all-time blocker. He averaged 10.5 points and 7.6 rebounds in 25.6 minutes per game in 36 games (24 starts).

Payne, along with teammates Keith Appling and Gary Harris, received Second Team All-Big Ten honors.

Payne was a preseason candidate for the Naismith and Wooden Awards heading into his senior year. He was named to CBS Sports’ Preseason All-America Third Team.
