“A trespasser entered the front of our school today and stabbed one of our students multiple times. Unfortunately, she did not make it,” Stockton Unified School District Superintendent John Ramirez Jr. said.

The stabbing occurred shortly after 11 a.m., according to the Stockton Police Department.

A Stockton Unified School District officer captured the perpetrator shortly after the teen was assaulted. The assailant was ultimately identified as Anthony Gray, 52, of Stockton.

According to authorities, the girl was taken to a hospital and died as a result of her injuries.

Gray allegedly drove to the school’s front parking area and parked his car. He then entered the campus and stabbed the adolescent.

On Monday evening, police told KCRA 3 that the stabbing was a “random act.”

“It’s a tragedy,” says the speaker. Ramirez stated, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.” During a vigil outside the school, the teen’s family identified her as Alicia Reynaga.
