Andy Goram served in the Scottish Football League as a goalkeeper. When he retired, he continued his career as a goalkeeping instructor for many Scottish clubs after his playing days were over.

When he returned to Motherwell in 2002, he began taking on a few coaching responsibilities. In March 2006 and February 2008, he was the coach of Airdrie United and Clyde, respectively. In September of 2008, Goram left Clyde.

Goram assisted Hamilton Academical in January 2012 during a situation involving their goalkeeping coach. Goram rejoined godson David Hutton in the coaching team at Ayr United in January 2014, just as he had done at Clyde and Hamilton, and assumed the position as goalkeeping coach.
