On April 22, 1996, Francis was born in the city of Tallahassee, Florida. He was drafted in the seventh round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft by the Milwaukee Brewers after attending Chipola College in Marianna, Florida.
In four games with the AZL Brewers, he had an 8.10 ERA. Francis was 7-10 with a 4.50 ERA in 26 games with the Class-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and Advanced-A Carolina Mudcats in 2018.
Francis pitched for Carolina and the Double-A Biloxi Shuckers the following season, finishing 8-9 with a 3.97 ERA and 165 strikeouts in 1422/3 innings. Because the minor league season was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Francis did not play in any games in 2020.
Francis began the 2021 season with the Biloxi Blue Wahoos before being promoted to Triple-A Nashville Sounds in late May. In 592/3 innings pitched over two levels, Francis was 7-3 with a 3.62 ERA and 65 strikeouts.
