In Major League Baseball, Brendan Joel McKay is a professional baseball pitcher and designated hitter for the Tampa Bay Rays. He was born in the United States.

The Rays picked McKay in the first round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft, with the fourth overall pick, as the fourth overall pick. He was a member of the University of Louisville baseball team throughout his college years.

In Chippewa, Pennsylvania, McKay attended Blackhawk High School. For all four seasons of his high school baseball career, he was a member of the varsity baseball team, and he also played one season of high school basketball.

He went 72+13 innings without allowing a run as a senior. He was 8–1 with a 0.56 ERA and 130 strikeouts over his career.

In both his junior and senior seasons, McKay was voted Pennsylvania Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year. He was picked in the 34th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft by the San Diego Padres, but he declined to sign and instead played collegiate baseball for the University of Louisville.
