Casper Ruud is a Norwegian professional tennis player. Ruud has a career-high singles ranking of world No. 5, achieved on 13 June 2022, making him the highest-ranked Norwegian tennis player in history.

He currently holds nine singles titles on the ATP Tour, with eight of those coming on clay courts.

Ruud is the first guy from Norway to join the top 10 of the ATP singles rankings, win an ATP singles championship, reach a major final (at the 2022 French Open), and reach a final of a Masters 1000 tournament. Ruud also became the first Norwegian man to win an ATP singles title.



After advancing to the quarterfinals of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships, he attained his career-high doubles ranking of 133rd in the world. This was the first time he had ever done so.

Ruud played his way into the third round of the boys’ singles competition at the 2015 French Open, however, he was ultimately eliminated by Corentin Denolly.

Additionally, he had his greatest singles achievements in the respective tournaments in Junior Grand Slams when he reached the third round of the 2015 US Open boys’ singles and the second round of the 2015 Wimbledon boys’ singles. Both of these events took place in 2015.

Christian Ruud, Casper’s father, coached him from the time Casper was a toddler. Casper’s enthusiasm for Tennis was nurtured by Christian Ruud.

World No. 39 is Christian Ruud’s highest singles ranking. Until his son surpassed him, he was Norway’s highest-ranked singles player.

Twelve of Christian Ruud’s singles championships were on the challenger circuit; he reached the final of an ATP Tour tournament once but lost.

He also competed for Norway in three Olympics in a row, getting as far as the quarterfinals in Atlanta in ’96.

Casper’s relationship with his father is very tight, and he credits his dad with helping him become the kind, humble person he is now.

Both dad and kid are avid golfers, so they often play together. Casper’s game and friendly demeanor are both products of their close friendship.
