Clarence Thomas is a well known American lawyer who is currently the associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. He has been in office since 1991 when he was appointed by ex-President George Bush to succeed Thurgood Marshall.

Clarence is an African- American who was born June 23, 1948, at PinPoint, Montgomery, Georgia in the United States of America. As a Catholic, Clarence had his education at a Catholic school. He attended St. Pius X high school for two years and later got a transfer to St. John Vianney’s Minor Seminary on the Isle of Hope.

Clarence had his college education at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts as a sophomore transfer student. Clarence made it known he enrolled there based on a nun’s suggestion. In college, he assisted in forming the Black Student Union to help combat racism. He even joined a walkout in school after some black students were punished while white students went unpunished for the same violation.

As a student, Clarence took part in anti-war marches and witnessed the 1970 Harvard Square riots. He was a student at Yale Law School where he received a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in 1974. According to Clarence, the law firms he applied to after graduating from Yale did not take his degree seriously because they thought he obtained it because of affirmative action.

Jamal Adeen Thomas happens to be the only son of Clarence. He is an actor and a television show personality. He was born in 1969 and after his parents divorced in 1984, his father remarried and had custody of him and raised him with his new wife.
