David Goffin is a Belgian professional tennis player who currently resides in the United States. He has reached a career-high of No. 7 on the singles rankings throughout the world.



He is the first male athlete from Belgium to break into the top 10 of the ATP rankings and is now the athlete with the best ranking in Belgium. Goffin has participated in nine ATP finals and won six ATP titles, including the 2017 ATP World Tour Finals.

Goffin is the first player in history to compete in all nine ATP finals. Goffin made his first appearance in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament in the 2012 French Open.



This was the first time that he has ever done so. Roger Federer beat him in four sets when they met in the fourth round of the tournament.

In the quarterfinals of the 2016 French Open and the 2017 Australian Open, Goffin was defeated by his opponents Dominic Thiem and Grigor Dimitrov, respectively. In the quarterfinals of the 2019 Wimbledon tournament, he was eliminated by Novak Djokovic.

Simon Goffin is the only older brother of David Goffin. He is the head coach of Elise Mertens and works at a tennis academy that was founded by Kim Clijsters, who was the number one player in the world at one point.

Simon worked closely with Russian tennis player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova on the WTA Tour for a total of two years and six months. Additionally, he worked alongside Andrea Petkovic, who is a German athlete.
