According to unofficial reports, Putin and former Olympic gold medalist Alina Kabaeva are the parents of twin sons.

As reported by the Moskovsky Korrespondent in April 2008, Putin had separated from his wife, Lyudmila, and was engaged to be married to Olympic gold medalist Alina Kabaeva, a former rhythmic gymnast who was also a Russian politician at the time.

The story was rejected, and the newspaper was forced to close its doors shortly after. Despite the fact that Putin and Lyudmila continued to make public appearances together as wives, the state of Putin’s relationship with Kabaeva became a source of discussion in the media.

It was widely reported in the following years that Putin and Kabaeva had several children together, but this was denied by the Russian government at the time.

After announcing their separation on June 6, 2013, Putin and Lyudmila declared that their marriage was dissolved on April 1, 2014, when the Kremlin revealed that the divorce had been finalized.

In 2015, Kabaeva reportedly gave birth to a daughter, who is believed to be the child of Putin and Kabaeva. In 2019, Kabaeva is said to have given birth to twin sons, who were fathered by Putin.
