Georgia Claire Flipo is a Melbourne-based Australian singer, songwriter, producer, drummer, and musician. G Flip has sold out every show they’ve ever done in Australia, establishing them as a “musical powerhouse” in the country.
Despite being a multi-instrumentalist, Flipo has been playing drums since the age of nine, and percussion is still an important component of their composition process.
They say they “spent most of 2017 locked up in their bedroom composing and recording,” after previously working as a session drummer and backup vocalist for a variety of Melbourne bands.
They released their debut single “About You” on Triple J Unearthed in February 2018, and it was debuted on Triple J the same day.
On March 2, 2018, the song was officially released. It was named “Best New Track” by Pitchfork, and the music video was featured in YouTube’s New Music Playlist.
Flipo was the first recipient of the ARIA Emerging Artist Scholarship and was nominated for a J Award for Unearthed Artist of the Year in November 2018.
Flipo played “Proud Mary” and “Blame It on the Boogie” during the ABC’s “The Night is Yours” New Year’s Eve 2018 Celebration at the Sydney Opera House in December 2018, and their song “About You” was included in Season 2, Episode 10 of The Bold Type.
“About You” was ranked number 38 in the Triple J Hottest 100 in January 2019, and “Killing My Time” was at number 62.
At the Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR) Awards in July, G Flip was named Breakthrough Independent Artist of the Year. On 30 August 2019, they released their first studio album.
