Meet Chris Martin

Christopher Anthony John Martin, an English singer, songwriter, and musician was born on March 2, 1977, in Exeter, Devon, England.

He is best known as the lead vocalist, pianist, and co-founder of the rock band Coldplay, with whom he has won numerous awards, including seven Grammy Awards and nine Brit Awards.

They are the most successful band of the twenty-first century and one of the best-selling music artists in the world, with over 100 million albums sold worldwide.

Martin was named to Debrett’s list of the UK’s most powerful people in 2017.

He attended University College London, where he created the band Starfish with classmates Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion.

After renaming themselves Coldplay in 1998, they gained worldwide popularity with the publication of the song “Yellow” in 2000, and have since won critical praise for albums such as A Rush of Blood to the Head, Viva la Vida, or Death, and All His Friends, among others.

Chris Martin Career

Martin met Jonny Buckland while studying at University College London, and the two decided to establish a band, with Martin as lead singer and Buckland as lead guitarist.

Guy Berryman on bass and Will Champion on drums completed the lineup. Pectoralz was the name of the band they established in 1996.

The band’s name was changed to Starfish until they were granted the name Coldplay by another band who no longer wanted it.

The band has gained international recognition and success since the publication of their debut album, Parachutes, in 2000.

Coldplay’s song “Yellow” from Parachutes reached number four on the charts and propelled them to fame.

Parachutes, A Rush of Blood to the Head, X&Y, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, Mylo Xyloto, Ghost Stories, A Head Full of Dreams, Everyday Life, and Music of the Spheres are among their nine studio albums to date. They have put out a few EPs, such as Safety and The Blue Room.

In addition to Embrace (“Gravity”) and Jamelia (“See It in a Boy’s Eyes,” co-authored with Coldplay producer Rik Simpson), Martin has written songs for a number of other artists.

Apart from Ron Sexsmith, Martin has worked on projects with the Streets (with Ian McCulloch) and Faultline (with Ron Sexsmith).

Martin and DJ Avicii cooperated in 2015 on two new songs for Martin’s album Stories. “Heaven” was the name of their first project together.

In this case, Martin authored the lyrics, Avicii produced it, and Cherry Ghost’s Simon Aldred was the lead vocalist.

Coldplay guitarists Jonny Buckland and Martin appeared in Shaun of the Dead as supporters of the fictional charity ZombAid, with Martin appearing a second time as a zombie.

Chris Martin Private Life

Martin had a relationship with live events producer Lily Sobhani around the time of the Parachutes album release, according to one source.

On December 5, 2003, he married American actress Gwyneth Paltrow in a private ceremony in front of their friends and family.

Apple, their daughter, was born in London in May 2004. Moses, his second kid, was born in New York City in April 2006.

After eleven years of marriage, Martin and Paltrow announced their split as a “conscious uncoupling.” Paltrow divorced in April 2015, and the divorce was finalized on July 14, 2016.
