James “Tim” Norman, who formerly starred in the reality TV series Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s and was located in St. Louis, was found guilty of orchestrating the death of his nephew and sentenced to life in prison.

According to a report from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, a federal jury deliberated over the murder-for-hire case against Norman on Friday (16 September) and reached its conclusion.

He was charged with conspiracy to conduct murder for hire, murder for hire, and conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud. All of these charges were brought against him.

Both Norman and his nephew, Andre Montgomery, starred in the long-running OWN reality show about a popular soul-food business that was founded in the St. Louis area by Robbie Montgomery, who is both Norman’s mother and Andre’s grandmother. The business was run by Norman’s mother and Andre’s grandmother.

Although the prosecution is not seeking the death penalty for Norman, he faces the possibility of receiving a life sentence in jail. The date of sentencing has been set for December 15th.

Federal authorities claim that Norman, then 43 years old, paid two individuals to murder Montgomery, then 21 years old, on March 14, 2016, and then attempted to collect a life insurance policy for $450,000 (£393,900) that had been taken out on his nephew many months earlier.
