Bobby Wagner has been released by the Seahawks.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, linebacker Bobby Wagner was informed on Tuesday that he will be released.

Fans will have to bear the brunt of one of the most emotional days in Seahawks history. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, linebacker Bobby Wagner has been advised that he will be dismissed before the start of free agency next week.

This comes just hours after star quarterback Russell Wilson was said to have been traded to the Denver Broncos.

Seattle selected both Wagner and Wilson in the 2012 NFL Draft. They were the last two members of the Seahawks’ Super Bowl XLVIII winner team left on the roster.

Wagner is the all-time leader in tackles (1,383) and All-Pro selections for the Seahawks after ten seasons with the organization (8).

From 2014 through 2021, he was named to the Pro Bowl eight times in a row, sealing a remarkable career that will almost surely see him inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Wagner’s release will save the Seahawks $16.6 million in salary cap space. He has until March 16 to sign with another team before free agency begins.

After finishing fourth in the NFC West with a 7-10 record in 2021, the squad marked the end of an era in Seattle football.
