Jacob William Brendel was born on September 10, 1992, and currently plays for the National Football League’s San Francisco 49ers (NFL). He attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he played collegiate football. Brendel was a 2016 undrafted free agent signed by the Dallas Cowboys.

Brendel is a native of Plano, Texas, and spent his first two years as a defensive tackle at Plano East Senior High School.

As a junior, he was shifted to the offensive line. He captained the team and was a two-time offensive line first-team All-district selection. Rivals.com ranked him as a three-star recruit and ranked him as the class’s No. 15 center prospect.

Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys signed Brendel as an undrafted free agent following the NFL Draft on May 6th, 2016. He was released by the Cowboys on September 3, 2016. He was named to the Cowboys’ practice squad the following day. His injury settlement allowed the practice squad to dismiss him on September 29th.

Miami Dolphins

Brendel was signed to the Miami Dolphins practice squad on October 11th, 2016. On November 19, he was elevated to the active roster. A single appearance was all that he made.

As a backup center in 2017, he appeared in all 16 games.

With an injury to his calf, Brendel was ruled out for the rest of the season. The following day, he was reactivated from the injured reserve roster.

Denver Broncos

Brendel signed with the Denver Broncos on April 18, 2019. On August 31, he was released.

Baltimore Ravens

Brendel was signed by the Baltimore Ravens on November 27 but was released three days later on November 30.

San Francisco 49ers

Brendel was signed by the San Francisco 49ers on February 7, 2020. Brendel said on August 6 that he would withdraw from the 2020 season owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Brendel was waived on August 31, 2021, as part of the final roster cuts.
