John Patrick Sears (born February 19, 1996) is an American baseball pitcher who now pitches for the New York Yankees in the American League.
During his time at The Citadel, Sears was a member of the baseball team. He was drafted in the eleventh round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft by the Seattle Mariners.
His first two professional teams were the Everett AquaSox and the Clinton LumberKings, where he had a combined 1-2 record and a 0.65 earned run average in 27+23 innings.
Juan and Sears are two of the most well-known individuals on the planet. They were then traded to the New York Yankees for Nick Rumbelow on November 18, 2017.
In his first season with the Charleston RiverDogs, he was 1-5 with a 2.67 ERA in 10 appearances, striking out 54 batters in 54 innings of work.
He finished 4-4 with a 4.07 ERA in 48+23 innings pitched for the Tampa Tarpons in 2019, finishing the season 4-4. Due to the discontinuation of the minor league season in that year, he did not play in any games in 2020.
He went 10-2 with a 3.46 ERA in 25 games for the Somerset Patriots and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in 2021. (18 starts). In 104 innings, he struck out 136 batters and ended with a 3.46 ERA in 25 games (18 starts).
The Yankees signed Sears to a one-year agreement after the 2021 season to get him on their 40-man roster.
