He currently holds a World No. 25 doubles ranking, which he also attained on April 11, 2022, and a career-high singles ranking of 156, which he attained in June 2022. He paired with a Luke Saville in 2020 at the Australian Open, and Matthew Ebden in 2022 at the same tournament.

Max Purcell began his professional career in the early years of 2016 to 2019. He qualified for the Gimcheon Challenger and won the challenge which was held in South Korea at the time where he went against one fellow Australian Andrew Whittington.
