Max Purcell plays tennis professionally and is an Australian. His highest singles and doubles rankings throughout his career came on June 20, 2022, at world No. 156 and April 11, 2022, at world No. 25, respectively.

Purcell and Alex de Minaur competed in the Australian Open doubles event in 2017 via a wildcard. The pair was defeated by the Spanish team of Guillermo Garcia López and Pablo Carreno Busta in the first round. In 2017, Purcell won three titles while competing in four Futures Tour finals.
