Nancy Dansby-Swanson was a pioneer. The former Nancy Dansby, one of the first dual-sport athletes in the nation and at Troy, excelled for the Trojans on both the hardwood and the hardcourt.

Swanson leaves behind an irrefutable legacy. Swanson finished with the aforementioned 17-3 record as a true freshman, moving on to the AIAW Small College National Championship.

Swanson concluded her freshman year with a combined record of 17-3 overall as the Trojans’ top singles player and a 14-1 mark as the Trojans’ top doubles team.



The former Marietta, Georgian also contributed to the Trojans’ season-ending No. 5 national ranking. Troy achieved its highest point in 1977 thanks to Dansby-Swanson when the Trojans won both the state doubles championship and the AAIAW championship.

She led the Trojans in made free throws (58) and percentage (.722) during the 1977–78 basketball season, and she also helped the team to a 21–9 record and an appearance in the AIAW Regional.
