Rashard T. Anderson was a well-known football cornerback who played in the National Football League for two seasons.

Anderson was born to his parents on June 14, 1977, in Forest, Mississippi. He grew up attending Forest High School.

After that, he went to Jackson State University (JSU) and played cornerback there from 1996 to 1999.



He was a key member of the Tigers’ teams that won the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Championship in 1996 and the SWAC Eastern Division title in 1999.

He was later picked in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2000 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers.

After Walter Payton and Robert Brazile in 1975, he and Sylvester Morris were the second duo from JSU to be taken in the first round of an NFL draft.

On September 3, 2000, at the age of 23, Anderson made his NFL debut with the Panthers in a 20-17 loss to the Washington Redskins.

Anderson played in 12 games during his rookie NFL season and made 21 tackles.

Anderson topped the 2001 season defense with 47 tackles and his only career interception in 15 games.

He also tied for the most fumble return touchdowns (tied with Brian Urlacher) and ended second in the NFL in fumble return yards (97).
