Russell Carrington Wilson was born on November 29, 1988, and currently plays American football for the National Football League’s Seattle Seahawks .

Wilson first attended NC State for football and baseball from 2008 to 2010 before transferring to Wisconsin in 2011, where he established the single-season FBS record for passing efficiency (191.8) and led the Badgers to a Big Ten title and the 2012 Rose Bowl.

He also played minor league baseball as a second baseman with the Tri-City Dust Devils in 2010 and the Asheville Tourists in 2011, and as of 2019, the Somerset Patriots, the New York Yankees’ Double-A affiliate, own his professional baseball rights.

He was a third-round (75th overall) pick of the Seahawks in the 2012 NFL Draft. Wilson ended up having a spectacular rookie season, tying Peyton Manning’s then-record for most throwing touchdowns by a rookie (26) and being voted Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year.

Wilson was selected to eight Pro Bowls and started in two Super Bowls, including the Super Bowl XLVIII victory over the Denver Broncos. Through nine seasons, he owns the NFL record for most wins by a quarterback and is one of just four quarterbacks in NFL history to have a career passer rating of over 100.

Wilson signed a four-year, $140 million contract extension with the Seahawks in April 2019, making him the NFL’s highest-paid player at the moment.
