Sam Hentges is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Cleveland Guardians of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2021.

It was in 2014 that Hentges was named the St. Paul Pioneer Press baseball player of the year while attending Mounds View High School in Arden Hills.

After a lot of consideration, he decided to attend the University of Arkansas to play baseball in college. The Cleveland Indians selected him in the 2014 Major League Baseball draft in the fourth round.

By signing with the Indians rather than heading to Arkansas, Hentges became an Arizona League Indians starter, posting a 0.69 ERA in 13 innings in his debut.

Arizona League Indians and Mahoning Valley Scrappers combined to produce a 3–5 record and 4.37 earned run average (ERA) in 13 games (11 starts) pitched by Hentges in 2015.

He began the 2016 season with the Lake County Captains, but Tommy John surgery cut his season short. In 2017, he returned to the minor leagues and appeared in 11 games with the Arizona League Indians and Mahoning Valley, with a 3.23 ERA.
