Representative for Hawaii’s 2nd congressional district from 2013 to 2021, Tulsi Gabbard is an American politician, US Army Reserve officer, and political pundit. As the first voting Samoan-American and Hindu member of Congress, she also made history.

She often made appearances on Fox News while she was a member of Congress to lambast the Barack Obama administration for “refusing” to identify “radical Islam” or “Islamic extremism” as the “true adversary” of the United States. Despite referring to herself as a “hawk” on terrorism throughout her presidential campaign, she made a point of highlighting her opposition to militarism.

Public disapproval was sparked by her choice to meet with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and her denial of allegations that he had deployed chemical weapons. After abandoning her bid for president in March 2020 to support Joe Biden, Kai Kahele took her place in the House of Representatives on January 3, 2021. She now advocates for conservative views on transgender rights and abortion.

Tulsi Gabbard supported Florida’s Parental Rights in Education Act, which teacher unions publicly opposed, and she spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference in 2022. (CPAC). Although she did not join the Republicans and is still unaffiliated with any party, she announced in October 2022 that she had completely left the Democratic Party, citing the party’s shift in foreign policy and social concerns as the main causes.
