Ronald Eugene Rivera commonly known as Ron Rivera is an American retired football player who is currently the head coach of the Washington football team. After retirement from the game in 1993, he worked as an analyst before going into coaching full time.



Ronald Eugene Rivera was born on January 7, 1962, at Fort Ord in California and grew up in the same neighbourhood.

Ron studied at the University of California, Berkeley in the early 1980s, where he played college football for the Golden Bears and was known as an All-American linebacker.

He was named as the NFL Coach of the Year in 2013 and 2015 after he became the head coach of the Carolina Panthers where he led them to an appearance in Super Bowl 50.

Washington Football Team offered him the position as their head coach in 2020 after he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma but was able to undergo treatment and got healed of the sickness.
