He moved to Oral Roberts University after the season. He played for the Golden Eagles for one season. Romano was the team’s closer and pitched in 29 relief appearances. He had a 3–4 record, 11 saves, a 2.66 ERA, and 49 strikeouts in 4023 innings.

There were a lot of teams that wanted to pick Romano. The Blue Jays chose him in the 10th round in 2014.  He got a $25,000 signing bonus and was sent to the Gulf Coast League Blue Jays.

He was moved to the Bluefield Blue Jays, a team in the Rookie-Advanced Appalachian League, after making two appearances. He played for them for the rest of 2014.
