She was first elected as the Member of Parliament for South West Norfolk in 2010, and she is affiliated with the Conservative Party.

It’s hard to believe that Liz Truss ever considered the possibility of entering Number Ten via the famous black door as the leader of the Conservative Party.

She went from being a Liberal Democrat to a Tory, a Remainer to an enthusiast for Brexit, an awful speaker to the “queen of Instagram,” to use a phrase that was given to her by a coworker. As a result of all of these changes, she has manufactured her own luck in this competition.

The long-serving cabinet minister got off to a sluggish start in the early rounds of voting with members of parliament (MPs), but her optimistic outlook and plan to overturn conventional thinking on the economy have won over party members. Her detractors have said that her optimistic outlook defies reality.

The first time David Gauke and Ms. Truss met paths was in the 1990s when they were both working as volunteers for the Conservative party. After that, they both served in the cabinet together throughout the difficult negotiations around Brexit.

Ms. Truss has committed to lower taxes, despite concerns about inflation, and to questioning economic policies that, in her view, have failed to provide growth for the past 20 years.
