Michael Kay serves as the host of The Michael Kay Show, which airs on New York City’s WEPN-FM. Kay was a student at Bronx High School of Science, where he developed a professional interest in reporting.

Michael’s professional career began shortly after graduation, in 1982, when he began working at SportsPhone and as a public commentator for the New York Pro Summer Basketball League.



Michael Kay was hired as a general assignment reporter for the New York Post later that year, covering college basketball.

His first appearance on television occurred soon after when he began covering the New Jersey Nets.

Michael Kay made the jump to baseball in 1987 and began working as an announcer for the New York Yankees, a position he holds to this day.

Michael Kay worked at the New York Daily News from 1989 to 1992 before heading to WABC Radio.

With this move, Michael became the first newspaper reporter in any sport to work full-time as a broadcaster, doing both play-by-play and analysis.

Michael lasted on the radio for ten years until making his television debut in 2002 on the YES Network as the Yankees’ lead television play-by-play announcer.
