Dansby Swanson is a professional American Baseball shortstop whose full name is James Dansby Swanson. Dansby Swanson plays for the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball. He was previously selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the first overall 2015 Major League Baseball draft. Dansby was born on February 11, 1994, in Kennesaw, Georgia in the United States. He was born to parents Cooter Swanson and Nancy Swanson. His mother is Nancy Swanson.



In his freshman season in college, he was known to have missed most of his freshman season due to injuries. However, he had a breakout in his sophomore season when he started as Vanderbilt’s starting baseman. Dansby Swanson was named the 2014 College World Series Most Outstanding Player when the Commodores won their first-ever national championship.

He began his professional career with the Arizona Diamondbacks when he was known to have been selected the first overall in the year 2015 Major League Baseball draft. It will interest you to know that that was the first time a college shortstop had been drafted first overall since San Diego Padres took one Bill Almon in the year 1974. He then joined the Atlanta Braves where he is currently in the year August 2016 in the first overall draft.

“My mother was there to help me with my homework, take me to all of my games and throw me batting practice or hit me grounders when my dad was not around,” Swanson said. “We say she’s the best athlete in the family, and she’s very competitive. She says she’s a teacher because she can make a difference in lives. People that think like that are a rarity. Those things she’s done for others mean almost as much to me as things she’s done for me.”
