Jens Stoltenberg is the Secretary-General of NATO.

Following a remarkable international and domestic career, Jens Stoltenberg was appointed NATO Secretary General in October 2014.

Mr. Stoltenberg, a former Norwegian Prime Minister, and UN Special Envoy have long advocated for stronger global and transatlantic collaboration.

The tenure of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has been extended until the end of September 2022.

NATO has responded to a more hostile security environment under Mr. Stoltenberg’s leadership by undertaking the largest collective defense reinforcement since the Cold War, strengthening the readiness of its forces, and deploying combat troops in the Alliance’s eastern regions.

While keeping dialogue with Russia, he believes in genuine deterrence and defense. He’s also pushed for more defense spending and better burden sharing within the Alliance, as well as a stronger focus on innovation.

In the fight against terrorism, NATO has also increased its efforts. He is a firm believer in a partnership approach, with NATO and the European Union cooperating at never-before-seen levels.
