Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos, the daughter of former president Ferdinand Marcos and Ilocos Norte Representative Imelda Marcos, was revealed as the cover star of Philippine Tatler’s October 2015 issue on Tuesday, October 6 via their social media channels.
The picture which was posted on Marcos’ Facebook pages received many mixed reactions as people saw the photo to be photoshopped and that Marcos has undergone plastic surgery.
Imee Marcos was born on November 12, 1955, and entered politics shortly after returning from exile with her family. Marcos grew up alongside her siblings, including adopted child Aimee Marcos, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr, and Irene Marcos-Araneta.
She successfully won three terms in the House of Representatives and three terms as governor of Ilocos Norte. She earned a Senate seat in the 2019 elections. She formerly held the positions of the governor of the province from 2010 to 2019 and congressman for Ilocos Norte’s 2nd district from 1998 to 2007.
As a beneficiary of various offshore holdings controlled by the Marcos family, as revealed in the Panama Papers and by evidence discovered during her mother Imelda Marcos’ trial, Marcos has been implicated in the family’s stolen money.
The Presidential Commission on Good Government is attempting to repatriate these assets, which the Philippine Supreme Court deemed to be “ill-gotten money.”
