Alexander Miller Cobb professionally called Alex Cobb is one of the professional baseball pitchers with the San Francisco Giants baseball team. He has been with the Giants since November 2021.
Alex was born on October 7, 1987, in Boston, Massachusetts in the USA. His parents are Lindsay Miller-Cobb and Rick Cobb. His parents moved from Massachusetts to Vero Beach in Florida when he was just two years old.
He then began playing baseball as a pitcher when he attended Vero Beach High School. During his senior year, he earned the title of the Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers All-Area Baseball Player of the year. also played quarterback for the football team. He also played baseball at Clemson University.
During the 2006 MLB draft, Alex was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team in the 4th round of the draft. He was assigned to play in minor leagues for a couple of years after which he was promoted to the major leagues in May 2011. He made his MLB debut that same day for the Rays.
The Baltimore Orioles signed a four-year contract with Alex in March 2018. In 2021, the Orioles traded him to the Los Angeles Angels. That same year in November, the San Francisco Giants came signing Alex on a two-year contract worth $20 million with a $10 million club option for his third season.
