Originally from Columbus, Mississippi, Michael Patrick Rucker is an American professional baseball pitcher who now plays for the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball.



He was born on April 27, 1994, and is currently a member of the Cubs’ pitching rotation (MLB). It wasn’t until 2021 that he made his Major League Baseball debut!

Rucker was a member of the Auburn Riverside High School baseball team while attending Auburn High School in Auburn, Washington.



2011 marked his junior season, during which he went 8–2 with a 1.51 earned run average (ERA).

Rucker, who went undrafted out of high school in the 2012 Major League Baseball draft, went on to enroll at Gonzaga University to play collegiate baseball for the Bulldogs in the fall of 2012.

Later that year, he transferred to Brigham Young University (BYU), where he played baseball for the Cougars after finishing his freshman year at Gonzaga.

Rucker earned a berth on the All-West Coast Conference First Team in 2016 as a junior at BYU after posting an 11–1 record with a 2.73 earned run average over 102+13 innings.

Rucker was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 11th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft after his junior year, and he signed a one-year contract with the team for $180,000.
