Elijah Hamilton was born to Ruffin and Dena Hamilton. His dad, Ruffin, was an NFL player with the Falcons and the Packers between the years 1994 and 2000.
In 2016, Hamilton completed his education at Blessed Trinity Catholic. He was the 2015 Defensive Player of the Year and also lettered in football.
Hamilton attended Vanderbilt between 2016 and 2020, during which time he played in 41 games for the Commodores. In 2020, he won the position of team captain.
In the 2020 season, his final year of eligibility, he recorded 24 tackles and three pass breakups. In five games, Hamilton made at least two tackles, and twice he made seven or more.
He earned a career-high eight tackles the next week against Missouri after recording seven against No. 6 Florida on November 21, 2020. (Nov. 28, 2020).
Hamilton started at defensive back for the Bulldogs in all 12 games that year. At Tech’s game against Mississippi State, he made his debut as a defensive player (Sept. 4).
In all, Hamilton made 23 tackles (13 solos and 10 assisted), half a tackle for loss, and a pass breakup.
