Marcus Stroman’s Career with the Mets

In exchange for Stroman, the New York Mets received Toronto Blue Jays pitching prospects Anthony Kay and Simeon Woods Richardson, as well as financial considerations, on July 28th, 2019.

Stroman went 4-2 with a 3.77 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 11 start with the Mets in 2019. Between the Blue Jays and Mets, he had a combined record of 10–13 with an ERA of 3.22.

As of November 15th, 2019, Stroman has changed his Twitter name from @STR to @STR0, announcing on Twitter that he would be playing the 2020 season in the number 0 position.

He announced earlier this year that he was willing to give up his jersey number in honor of Jose Reyes.

He also hired Nikki Huffman as a personal trainer in the offseason, after she had been the head trainer for the Toronto Blue Jays.

During his recovery from a ruptured ACL at Duke University in 2015, he met her. With a ruptured left calf muscle, Stroman was unable to begin the 2020 season.

After announcing he would not play in the upcoming season on August 10, 2020, he did so before returning.

The Mets made Stroman a qualifying offer for $18.9 million for the 2021 season following the conclusion of the 2020 season. On November 11, Stroman accepted the qualifying offer.

There were 10 wins in 2021 for Stroman, 158 strikes and 179 innings pitched for the Mets starting rotation.
