The Texas Rangers claimed Ortega off waivers on 11/27/13. On December 30, 2013, the Rangers waived Ortega. On January 6, 2014, the Cardinals claimed Ortega. He started the season at Double-A Springfield. St. Louis assigned Ortega on September 8, 2014.
