Alexander Ross Dickerson, born on May 26, 1990, nicknamed “Grandpa,” is an American Major League Baseball left fielder for the Atlanta Braves. He formerly played for the San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants in Major League Baseball.



He was named the 2010 Big Ten Conference Baseball Player of the Year while attending Indiana University. Dickerson was selected in the third round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

He was the Florida State League Player of the Year in 2012, the Eastern League Rookie of the Year in 2013, and the Pacific Coast League Rookie of the Year in 2015.



In 2015, he made his Major League Baseball debut with the San Diego Padres. In 2018, he underwent Tommy John surgery.

Dickerson was designated for assignment by the Giants on November 22, 2021, to make space for pitcher Anthony DeSclafani. He was placed on unconditional release waivers on November 26, 2021.

Dickerson and his wife Jennifer are expecting their first child, a boy, in September 2020, and they live in San Diego.
