Vladimir Jr. is the son of baseball Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero and a nephew of former MLB player Wilton Guerrero. He was up for free agency in 2015 when Baseball America ranked him as the top international free agent and MLB.com ranked him the fourth-best. Vladimir signed with the Toronto Blue Jays on July 2, 2015, for a $3.9 million signing bonus when he was 16.

After signing with the Jays, he was assigned to their extended spring training camp to open the 2016 minor league season. He made his professional baseball debut whiles with the Rookie Advanced Bluefield Blue Jays on June 23 2016. During the 2017 minor league season, he played with the Class-A Lansing Lugnuts.



For the 2018 baseball season, Vladimir was considered the top prospect in the Blue Jays organization by MLB and Baseball America. In 2019, during spring training, many asked whether the Jays would have him on the Opening Day roster. On May 31, Vladimir broke the MLB record for most home runs in a single month. He made his MLB debut on April 26, 2019, for the Toronto Blue Jays.
