Robert Alexander Wood, professionally called Alex Wood plays baseball for the San Francisco Giants baseball team. He signed with the Giants in January 2021 and has been with them since.

Alex was born in North Carolina on January 12, 1991. He played baseball at Ardrey Kell High School after which he played college baseball at the University of Georgia, where he played for the Georgia Bulldogs baseball team.

The Atlanta Braves drafted him in the 2nd round of the 2012 MLB draft. He signed with them and made his professional debut playing for the Rome Braves of the Class A South Atlantic League. He made his MLB debut for the Braves in May 2013.

The Braves traded him to the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 30, 2015. He was traded to the Cincinnati Reds in December 2018 and 2020, he returned to play for the Dodgers on a one-year contract deal worth $4 million.

In January 2021, Alex signed a one-year contract of $3 million with the San Francisco Giants. His contract was resigned in December of that same year. This contract was for two years and was worth $25 million.
