Rafael Ángel Ortega García, simply known in baseball as Rafael Ortega is one of the professional baseball players the Chicago Cubs baseball team has. Rafael plays the position of an outfielder for the Cubs.

Rafael is of Venezuelan descent and was born on May 15, 1991. His parents are Palito Ortega and Evangelina Salazar. He played for the Colorado Rockies from January 2008 to November 2013. He made his professional debut with the Rockies after they signed him as an amateur free agent.

He also made his major league baseball debut with the Rockies on September 30, 2012. Rafael was claimed off waivers by the Texas Rangers on November 27, 2013. The following year, the St Louis Cardinals also claimed him off waivers. That was in January 2014.

In December 2014, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim signed a major league contract that lasts for a year. Rafael spent the 2016 and 2017 baseball seasons playing for the San Diego Padres and the Miami Marlins.

In February 2021, the Chicago Cubs signed a minor league contract. The contract included an invitation to major-league spring training. That same year, the Cubs added him to their active roster.
