Tyler Conklin, a tight end for the National Football League’s New York Jets, was born on July 30, 1995. He was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft after playing college football for Northwood and Central Michigan.

Conklin played football as a wide receiver and combo guard for L’Anse Creuse High School – North in Macomb Township, Michigan, where he was a standout two-sport athlete.

Conklin, who played basketball, guided his team to the Class A Final Four as a junior. He scored 22 points in a 59-46 semifinal loss to eventual state champion Saginaw High.

Conklin received a basketball scholarship to Northwood University after graduating from high school that covered all of his expenses. He remained for one semester and participated in seven games, recording averages of 2.6 rebounds, 1.9 points, and 1.4 assists. He transferred to Central Michigan University, where he stepped onto the football squad, but midway through his freshman year.

At the 2018 NFL Combine, Conklin displayed strong performance, placing second among tight ends in the vertical, fourth in the broad jump, fifth in the three-cone drill, and ninth in the 40-yard dash.
