Touki Toussaint was born to Dany Toussaint and Kahaso Kiti in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Garielle, his older sister, is of Haitian and Kenyan origin. Touki, Toussaint’s nickname, is a combination of his parents’ surnames.
When he was three months old, his family relocated to Haiti. When Toussaint was six years old, he and his mother returned to Florida.
He gave up baseball at the age of ten after a strikeout-filled season as a hitter, focusing on soccer and hockey instead, only to return two years later after a wager with a buddy.
Toussaint’s contract was acquired by the Braves on August 13, 2018, and he was added to the roster. On the same day, he made his MLB debut against the Miami Marlins, pitching six innings and allowing one run on two hits.
